Managers have been told by the Manchester United board that they are ready to sign David Beckham if he is offered a new contract.
The 26-year-old, who has scored 24 goals in 26 Premier League appearances, has struggled to hold down a regular place in United’s midfield this season and United are ready for a fresh approach.
A new deal for the forward could be announced as soon as Monday.
Beckham has been offered a two-year contract worth £200,000-a-week by the club and is yet to accept it.
He is currently the subject of an investigation into the sale of his father’s Real Madrid team-mates to Manchester United for £75m.
In his first season at United, Beckham has scored nine goals and assisted eight.
