New York City cyclist killed by car while walking on bike path

A cyclist killed in New York while on his bicycle in Brooklyn has been identified by authorities.

New York City Police said the victim, a 30-year-old man from Queens, was hit by a vehicle while walking near his home on Monday afternoon.

The cyclist died at the scene, and authorities say it is not clear if the vehicle involved in the collision was involved in an accident or if it was the driver.

The NYPD tweeted the name of the victim Monday afternoon, identifying him as James H. White.

White was a member of the Brooklyn Cycling Club, a community cycling group.

According to the NYPD, the driver of the car that hit the cyclist was also a member, and that driver was not injured.

White had lived in Brooklyn for the past two years, and had been on the New York State Department of Transportation’s bike and pedestrian advisory board.

White was a frequent cyclist, according to the NYC Department of Motor Vehicles.
