Shoe depot opens in Auckland to serve orthopedic shoe buyers

New Zealand’s biggest shoe store has opened in Auckland as it looks to fill a gap in the industry.

Super Shoes said it will open at the corner of Queen Street and Stirling Street in the city’s CBD on March 23, adding a new location to the company’s retail arm.

The store will sell orthopedics, running shoes and footwear.

It is part of a broader expansion at the store in the CBD.

The company previously opened a store in central Auckland but that location closed in October 2017 after more than a decade.

Super shoes said it was looking for a location in Auckland’s CBD where it can serve the growing orthopedically-oriented population.

“We have a huge appetite for the sport of sport,” said co-founder and CEO Simon Mackey.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to serve a growing population in Auckland who have a wide variety of shoes and need an affordable option.”

Mackey said Super Shoes was the first of the major shoe retailers to enter the Auckland CBD and it would serve a large population.

“We want to be a catalyst for that change.”

New Zealanders are looking for alternatives to the expensive shoes we have been sold,” he said.

The company is also offering a discount on shoes, with its online store offering 30 per cent off on footwear.
