The trainers, which were used in training operations, were made by Nike’s subsidiary in Italy.
The company also made them for the US military in the 1980s.
Nike trainers were first used in the Middle East in 1983, in Afghanistan in 1985, and in Iraq in 1993.
The training equipment was later used in Afghanistan.
Nikes trainers have since become a popular sport for athletes in the United States, with some running, basketball, soccer and tennis players taking them up in training sessions.
